Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk, by David Sedaris

on

Three stars, read January 2012.

I’ve been meaning to read David Sedaris for so long, and this was my first go. I haven’t quite figured out his style yet, although it’s obviously satiricalhe makes fun of an awful lot of different kinds of people in this book. But I need to check out a few more of his things and get a better sense for his writing, because it’s definitely intriguing. A very dry and sometimes morbid humor.

The narration was fantastic and included Elaine Stritch, so you really can’t go wrong there. It’s quite shortonly three discs longso I imagine that reading the print copy would go fairly quickly. And I just noticed that it’s illustrated by Ian Falconer, the writer of the fabulous Olivia picture books! All the more reason to check it out.
